Tired but Happy

Three out of four ain't bad! So, did the rest of you stay up until 11:40 p.m. (Central time) to watch another exciting game finish? I am speaking, of course, of Ohio State's come from 20-down victory over Tennessee. Can I pick 'em or what? Okay, so I missed one. One. Sue me. Nice of UCLA to mess up my brackets the rest of the way, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who has to revamp the picks a bit ...

Speaking of which ... Did I ever tell you guys ...? No, I'm sure I didn't. Years ago, when I was probably 12 or 13, maybe a little younger, we were in Arizona visiting friends, and we went to a mall. All I really remember about the mall itself was that it was the biggest darn thing I'd ever seen in my life (at least, up to that point). We went into this store that had all kinds of wood-working type things (remember, this was Arizona - Phoenix, to be exact). They had a huge bin with names, carved out of wood - MARY ... FRED ... LINDA - I picked one up and said to my parents' friend, who was with us at the time, "Hey, look, whoever heard of someone named Ucla [pronounced it "ook-lah"]?" She looked at it, started laughing and said, "Oh, honey, that's UCLA!" It's been our running joke to this day. So, for you and ML, Mom ... go Ook-lah! (Really, I didn't think they'd get past Pitt. I still think Kansas will have a fight on their hands, just with a different opponent.)

Working on the WIP. Best laid plans, anyway. Today I hope to spend some real quality time with the manuscript - after I hit the grocery store. I've managed in the last three days to add just over 2500 words, including a bit of rearranging of previously written text. It's coming together nicely, but I'm 11 chapters in and still only on page 2 of the synopsis. I think from this point, however, it will start swimming along fairly quickly. Like I said, best laid plans. Tomorrow's going to be taken up with soccer, prom shopping and dinner with friends, so probably not much time for writing. I need to get caught up again on my reading, though, so I may take the weekend off and do that in between all the other stuff.

Another season begins. Speaking of soccer, the first official day of the season is tomorrow, and we're commemorating the day with not one but two games. And it's gonna be warm (we haven't got to the hot stage yet, but it's coming). And what color uniforms does Little Bit's team wear? Black, of course.

Okay, I'm off again. The groceries won't buy themselves.

Enjoy your Friday. Read a book.

=) JB
