Regrouping

The mind is like a richly woven tapestry in which the colors are
distilled from the experiences of the senses, and the design
drawn from the convolutions of the intellect.
-- Carson McCullers, American novelist (1917-1967)

My intellect is convoluting quite a bit. It's time to get reorganized. Again.

Pitiful, pathetic me.

The Final Four. So, wow. After an exciting and surprising weekend of NCAA basketball, we're down to the Final Four, and I had just one out of the four of them right in my Thursday picks. It was disheartening to see North Carolina not even show up for the overtime against Georgetown. I don't think I've ever seen a team self-destruct and fold up cold and dry like they did. After UCLA defeated Pitt on Thursday I figured they'd do well against Kansas. I'm still taking Ohio State all the way, but the Florida-UCLA game is going to be tough. I hope UCLA wins. I'd like to see them win.

Mars, Bringer of War. This is what's on the CD player at the moment. I just love that piece. One of these days I'd like to have the entire collection of Holst's The Planets on one CD. Right now I have about four of them in bits and pieces. Hmmm ... I do have a birthday coming up. Perhaps it'll be a present. That was a hint, in case you're paying attention.

Progress Report. In three days last week - Tuesday through Thursday - I wrote a total of 2,554 words. On Friday, I wrote 2,220 words. Now, that's progress.

We're up to just under the 57K mark, we're at the beginning of Chapter 12 and we're still stuck in the middle of Synopsis Page Two. I've hit a quagmire, of sorts - that place in the story that you can sum up in a paragraph but there's really a lot more going on than meets the eye. Things are a little disjointed in this spot, but I'm hoping this week will see me pulling it together.

Today is my "business day", though, and I intend to get all this business taken care of by the time I have to hit the day job at two o'clock. So much to do, so little time. I'm buried under a pile of TBR books, a Netflix flick that needs to be watched, six reviews that need to be written, and an interview that's way overdue. Plus a query or two that need to be sent. I'm such a slacker.

It's time to regroup, rejuvenate, recharge, and ignore the distractions, or face the consequences - namely that JT is going to kick my butt when she gets back from Florida if I don't get caught up and organized.

So, while I'm off trying to find myself amidst all this fluff and clutter, read a book. (Oooh, now Sabre Dance is churning through the study - there's one that'll get your feet moving ...)

=) JB
