You Don't Say

I'm not a politician and my other habits are good. -- Artemus Ward (1834-1867) American writer

There's another personality questionnaire email with six thousand questions that circulates cyberspace. One of the questions is "What is the first thing you think of when you wake up in the morning?" (or some similar phrasiology). My answer to this question used to be something along the lines of "Can I hit that snooze button just one more time?" or "Which kid was I supposed to wake up first?"

Now my answer to that question is, "What am I going to blog about today?"

And the answer to THAT question is - well, let's talk about what I'm NOT going to blog about:

1. Politics.
2. The War.
3. Religion.

I was going to list all the reasons I refuse to talk about these issues, but that would be talking about them, so I'm not going to do it. Most people who know me know where I stand, and if you don't but you REALLY want to know, go to my website's About the Author page. There's plenty of info there that should give you an idea.

Having said that, let's talk about what I DO like to talk about (huh?).

Acceptable Discussion Topics:
1. Writing. Hello?? Well, D-U-H, Mom.
2. Music. Any kind, any time. Except for maybe rap. They left the "c" off the front of that word.
3. Life in general. My life is a three-ring circus, and I usually have a kid in each ring, usually all at the same time. I told Sandra Ruttan that recently. As a friend of our family observes, at our house, there's "never a dull moment."
4. Good books. Another D-U-H. There are literally tons (literally) of great books out there.

I'm reading one now.

Book of the Week: The Heat of the Moon by Sandra Parshall

Music of the Moment: Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin (arguably one of the most excellent pieces of music written in the 20th century)

Read a book. It's good for you.

=) JB
