The habit of reading is the only enjoyment in which there is no alloy; it lasts when all other pleasures fade.
-- Anthony Trollope (1815-1882) English writer
Had a lovely dinner with the GP yesterday. Lovely. Then I made the mistake of saying, "Yeah, going to Books-a-Million would be great." Aarrgghh! When will I learn? It is never safe for me to go into a bookstore with a credit card in my pocket. Never. Not under any circumstances. I am not supposed to be buying more books until I've read the upwards of 60 that are in my TBR pile. So what did I do? Bought books, of course.
I will say this in my defense - two of the cough-five-cough I bought were for our Sisters in Crime Summer Reading program, and with my Millionaire Club discount card they were cheaper than they would've been had I ordered them from Amazon. Yeah. Excuses, excuses. I'm an addict. I admit it freely.
And as if that weren't enough, we buzz next door to Hobby Lobby. I spent money there, too. The WGH is going to take away my AmEx.
Tomorrow Lonnie Cruse will be blogging in my stead while I hop over to her blog and answer some very nice questions about me and my writing. Stop on by!
Now I'm going to go try to make a dent in that ceiling-high pile of books.
Might I suggest the same for you? Go on, it's good for you!
=) JB
