I made myself stay out of the study this morning until I finished the latest RTE book I was reading - no email, no blog, no nothing until it was done. Now it's done, I'm caught up on email, and here I am.
Now I just have to write the review.
And move on to the next thing on the list.
Today the plan is to make some serious progress on the WIP. We're at another crucial point, and the temptation is to step away from it and regroup, but I'm making myself dive in and get a handle on things. There's much to do, and little time to do it.
It's hard to put aside the distractions when you have a lot going on in your little world. Writers are people just like everyone else, and we have lives outside of our books, despite what the general public thinks. But for short stretches of time, all that matters is getting those words on the page to come alive, meld together and make a story that will knock a reader's socks off.
That's what's #1 on my to-do list at the moment.
Read a book. Big Brother Brett has one he recommends (a sentiment which I wholeheartedly second).
=) JB
