The twisted circumstances under which we live is grist for the writing mill, the loving, hating and discovering, finding new handles for old pitchers ...
-- Alice Childress, US writer (1920-1994)
The time change is coming up this weekend. Right now when McCartney and I get up to roust the kids, the sun is just starting to come up. Sunday morning it will be good and light by the time we get up. My worry is that McCartney will wake up at 5:30 instead of 6:30 - he's not going to know he's supposed to sleep an extra hour. When the sun comes up, McCartney gets up. Oy.
I'm a morning person, and I enjoy getting up when the house is quiet and I have a little time to myself. I get more accomplished if I get an early start. Which is what I'm trying to do today. I have a few more chapters to finish in the book I'm reading to review, plus the WIP to dive back into. JT, the WMVR and I have been hashing out the fate of one of the characters - whether to reveal his "secret" earlier in the book or save it for the "big reveal" at the end. There's a fine line in my mind between surprising and tricking the reader. I don't like to trick my readers, I like to surprise them. It's only fair.
The other day I joined an online "magazine" that publishes articles, reviews, editorials, informational pieces, instructional videos, and all kinds of other media things. You might have noticed over to the right a new section called "published articles" - that's where you can read what I've written and published, and the list should grow in the future.
In the meantime, I'm still working on the book, still looking for an agent, and still doing interviews as well as book and movie reviews. Among the fun and busy-ness of being a Mom. Ahhh, life is good.
Read a book. It's good for you.
=) JB
