Mile Marker 20

Today is The Tall One's birthday. It seems a bit strange to me that I have a child who is no longer a teenager. She was gracious enough to remind me that I am by no means old - the WGH and I are actually somewhat younger than some of our kids' friends' parents - before she left to get on a plane to go visit friends in Maryland for her birthday.

I've been rattling around the house by myself for most of this week. Little Bit is at band camp, and the WGH and The Boy are on a fishing trip. So it's been me and the cats, working on the ongoing to-do list. It's been quiet and peaceful, and I've thoroughly enjoyed my solitude, although I will admit that I'll be glad to see them when they get home. I have managed to accomplish a few things while everyone's been gone, so now I'm allowing myself a little down time.

I did receive a pleasant surprise in the mail today ... the ARC of a new book by Brant Randall (Bruce Cook). On my to-do list is reading Robert Fate's latest Baby Shark (this being book #4 of the series - Jugglers at the Border), and Bob is going to grace us with his presence here in the Lunch Room soon. After that, we'll read Bruce/Brant's Tommy Gun Tango, and we'll have more surprises coming up in the next couple weeks.

I have a Netflix DVD on the nightstand, too - an intriguing looking film called The Darjeeling Limited. So my week of alone will be topped off with some entertainment of the best kind ... curled up on the bed with the kitties, a couple of good books and a movie. Ahhhhh ...

Enjoy your weekend. I'll be back by soon. In the meantime, you know what to do.

=) JB
