Remodeling

You might have noticed (but it's okay if you didn't) that my "On the Bookshelf" section at the right has gone away.

This is because the bookshelf had so many books on it that it self-destructed under the weight of all of them. My TBR pile is gargantuan. I've been slowly but surely making my way down the nearly unmanageable stack of books I have to review. (I promise, Shaz, I will be caught up soon!) In the meantime, I've started a new system to try to tackle this pile of books - I'm reading about three or four at a time. Okay, no, silly, not at the same time. Even I'm not that good. But I do have several books on the nightstand at the moment, and I read a little bit from at least one or two of them every day. I'm trying to broaden my horizons a little bit while catching up on the stack - most of which are not review books but ones I've had sitting around for way too long, waiting for me to read them. So, I have one review book, one book I'm reading for pleasure, and (in the broadening my horizons category) a couple of nonfiction books - one is even on audio. The main reason I scrapped the book list here, though, is that I've been having a hard time keeping it up. Too much to remember for this victim of short-term memory dysfunction. I'll get back in the swing of it. Someday. Eventually.

One of the books I was reading for pleasure and just finished is The Liar's Diary by the lovely and gracious Patry Francis. I highly recommend this book - it's deeply emotional and disturbing in its vibrance. The ending is a shock but not unbelievable. All in all, it's a great read. And if you want to know more, visit Patry's website or check out the interview I did with her for Spinetingler magazine (link to the right).

I did manage to get some cleaning done last week as intended. It's still a work in progress, but you can see more carpet now. Today is a day for relaxation, a doctor's appointment, and more queries. Dinner and a movie with Little Bit and her little friend. And more reading.

Might I suggest you do the same?

I'd LOVE to dinner with Little Bit and her friend. Just tell me when and where.

What? That's NOT what you meant? Well! Snort. You meant read more? I'm reading STATE OF THE ONION by Julie Hyzy. Loving it.

You going to B'ham this weekend?

Hugs, Lonnie
